Vic: Ex-Aussie rules star pleads not guilty to fraud

A former Australian rules football star has pleaded not guilty to 31 charges .. in
an alleged elaborate conspiracy to defraud Victoria University of more than 10 million
dollars.

DAVID DENCH .. the captain of North Melbourne's 1977 VFL premiership team .. has appeared
today in the County Court.

Police allege the fraud involved senior employees at the university .. and contractors
invoicing the university for nearly five million dollars of maintenance work that was
never carried out.
