NSW:Breeders plan for Hunter Valley

Thoroughbred Breeders 10-point plan for sustainability of the Hunter Valley:



1: Recognise the Hunter Valley's thoroughbred breeding industry as an industry of state
significance.

2: Protect Australia's premier thoroughbred breeding industry through amendments to
the State Environmental Planning Policy.

3: Develop a strategic plan and sustainable land use strategy for the Hunter Valley.

4: Impose a moratorium on new mining decisions until a full independent cumulative
environmental impact assessment is undertaken.

5: Appoint a dedicated Minister for Agriculture.

6: Establish an independent sustainable agriculture agency.

7: Reform of NSW mining and planning policies subject to a pause or moratorium on new
mining decisions.

8: Establish an independent planning commission.

9: Respect and recognise landholder property rights by enacting legislation to provide
appropriate compensation to landholders affected by mining operations.

10: Stop sterilisation of productive agricultural land and end land use conflict in NSW.
